Here are some examples of custom works we have done:
MULTISENSORY GALA DINNERS WITH GAME ELEMENTS
Together with the event agency Tapaus, we executed a comprehensive, experiential gala evening for a certain tech company in 2022 and 2021
In 2022, the execution was made in the polar light of Lapland, surrounded by aurora borealis, glass cabins and arctic activities. The storyline, unfolding during the dinner, was wrapped around the magic of nature and human contact. The gala guests solved the mysteries that were hidden in the dishes, using all their senses and being guided by the mysterious Aurora character. The wow elements of the evening were created with interactive light design, video, shared moments and performances. The mysterious evening was planned to be both a personal and a shared experience. Recover Laboratory was responsible for the evening’s conceptualization, script, game design, lighting and video design, as well as the curation and execution of the performances.
In 2021, the surreal, immersive experience, drawing inspiration from the post-pandemic void of contacts and encounters, was executed at the Alexander Theatre in Helsinki. Together with Tapaus and Cirko – Center for New Circus, we conceptualized and scripted a narrative based on the client’s wishes. The storyline spread across the theater stage to the dinner tables, the auditorium, the corridors, the theater walls, and all the way to the ceiling. Dinner guests solved puzzles within the framework of the story that spread out to the entire evening, and enjoyed circus art, performances, live music, interactive video art and participatory encounters.
LAUNCH PARTY FOR HOTEL KATAJANOKKA
Escape The Ordinary was an ensemble ordered by hotel Katajanokka to celebrate the company’sjoining the Marriot Tribute Portfolio hotel chain.
We planned, curated and produced the evening’s program content, matching the numbers to the historical prison environment of the hotel. The program consisted of e.g. from an aerial acrobatics show on the staircase, interactive encounters through plastic tubes, a cyr wheel number, fire and bending acrobatics as well as jazz music and a street band performance.
IMMERSIVE ELEMENTS AND PERFORMANCES FOR A CONCERT HALL TOUR
Four Seasons was a concert hall tour with the finnish rap artist Pyhimys in 2019. Recover Laboratory created immersive and surrealistic athmospheres with performances that stretched from the stage into the audience. Contemporary circus, performance art, installations and interactive encounters were created for the Winter, Spring and Summer legs of the tour.
The Winter leg of the tour took place in Jyväskylän Paviljonki and the Spring part was performed in the biggest concert hall of the Nordic in Tampere-talo. The Summer tour culminated at the Red Arena of Flow Festival, as Pyhimys and Recover Laboratory took the stage as the main act of Friday night.
BALTIC CIRCLE FESTIVAL CLUB
In 2018 Recover Laboratory created a sparkling multi-art mayhem for Baltic Circle Festival’s What the Cirk festival club night, whe heartbreakingly cute and weird characters mingled with the audience in Cirko’s Maneesi. It became a night to remember as Recover Laboratory filled the place with contemporary art and circus, video, theater and even coding.
We were in charge of curating and creating the performances. We also did the set design and visual side of the evening, complete with an enormous Moon sculpture that was hung from the ceiling.
AWARD-WINNING MARKETING EVENT ON A MOVING TRAIN
Escape Train was a marketing stunt by InsideOut Escape Games, TWBA/Helsinki, VR, Nordisk Film and 20th Century Fox for the film Murder on the Orient Express. Escape Train was the first ever escape game event pulled off on a moving train. During the 13 hour and almost 1000 km route from Helsinki to Rovaniemi two team solved mysteries and dove deep into the world of theatre and art. The experience was live stremed all over the world.
In addition to HS and IS, the stunt was covered globally by e.g.: The Sunday Times and the Lonely Planet. Escape Train had over 40 000 000 views, and more viewers than any national web TV program – or even the Orient Express movie itself. The production was awarded with the Eurobest Award for Marketing among others.
Recover Laboratory’s Inna Huttunen was in charge of the whole production’s experience design, and RecLab created surreal performances and encounters in the corridors during the wee hours.
