Tricks for money

Tricks for Money shakes up the customs and practices of the cultural field by turning them into a stage show. Recover Laboratory’s operation is based on contemporary circus and stretching its boundaries. Sometimes in performances we are asked “why didn’t you do the trick?”. Our answer to this is Tricks for Money, a show that offers a celebration of multi-disciplinary tricks. Whether you want backflips, the funniest joke in the world, an incredible light show or a quick croquis drawing, Tricks for Money is for you!
The public is asked to bring cash to the show. The fluorescent-lit space appears unprepared, with nothing but a grandstand there. The Auction Emperor steps on the stage and begins trading with the audience like some Wall Street shark. One somersault for one euro, two for two?! For ten coins you get to see volts and for a fiver we’ll add a spotlight?! Cotton candy for three euros! I wonder what you can get for a hundred…?
The audience negotiates the price of the tricks together with the creators. What are the performers, designers and technicians willing to do publicly, for money?
